PUBLIC NOTICE Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) and Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Open House The Tyler Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) will hold an open house on Thursday, October 8, 2026 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Tyler Development Center, Large Conference Room located at 423 West Ferguson Street, Tyler, TX 75202. The purpose of the MTP is to identify the transportation needs of the community over the next 25 years. The purpose of the TIP is to list the transportation improvements scheduled for implementation over the next 4 fiscal years. A project must be included in the MTP and TIP to be eligible for any federal funding. The MTP and TIP do not cover highway design or transit route decisions. Questions about a proposed highway design or right-of-way acquisition should be made to the TxDOT Tyler District Office at (903) 510-9267. Questions about bus pickups, scheduling, and routes should be made to Tyler Transit at (903) 533-8057. The Open House is to notify the public of estimated cost updates for two highway projects and one transit project including: IH 20: Ramp reversal and one-way frontage roads from County Road 433 (Harvey Road) to US 69 - $131,717,600. US 69: Widening from four lanes to six lanes from South Town Drive to 0.3 miles south of FM 2813 - $51,071,900. Transit Funding Update: Under FTA Section 5339, the project description was updated from “Capital Expenses for Vehicle Purchases” to “Capital Expenses for Building Rehabilitation and Enhancements.” This will be a come-and-go event. Staff from the MPO will be on hand to answer questions and provide information regarding the amendment.
